About the project
Land degradation is one of the world's greatest environmental challenges — and it does not stop at a border.
EWALD is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Staff Exchange project funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme, grant agreement ID 101086250. It brings together academic and industry partners through staff secondments.
The project addresses land degradation using multi-source Earth Observation data, with the aim of protecting European frontiers from degradation processes that begin beyond them.
Objectives
An early warning system for land degradation
Develop an innovative Early Warning System framework that provides early detection of, and response to, land degradation threatening the EU from its external borders. Four work strands carry it.
